How long does food last in the fridge without power?
A closed refrigerator keeps perishable food safe for up to about 4 hours. That figure is the USDA guidance printed in The 72-Hour Power Outage Plan. Perishable food held above 40°F for more than 2 hours should be thrown out. Do not taste food to judge whether it is safe. When in doubt, throw it out.
