How far should I stay from a downed power line?
The quick reference in The 72-Hour Power Outage Plan says to stay 35 feet away from a downed power line and call 911. Do not touch the line, a fence it rests on, or a puddle near it. Treat every downed line as live. Move people back, then make the call.
